Remember Spicy Chicken McNuggets?

Back in September — which was only, what, five months ago, but feels like an eternity — McDonald’s introduced a new, limited-time-only, cayenne-and-chili-pepper-tempura-coated version of its iconic chicken pieces, marking its first McNugget innovation since the original’s launch in 1983.

You may also recall that the Spicy Chicken McNuggets came with an equally fiery sidekick: Mighty Hot Sauce, the chain’s first new dipping sauce since 2017 and by repute its hottest one ever, boasting a spicy blend of chili pepper and crushed red pepper, garlic and a soupcon of sweetness.

Well, they’re coming back. Yes, both of them. Apparently due to popular demand.

“Our fans asked. And pleaded,” a company rep noted in an email to Food Network, citing what the company said was “tens of thousands of tweets” expressing admiration for Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Mighty Hot Sauce.

Both nuggets and sauce will be back on menu boards at participating McDonald’s locations nationwide starting on February 1. And spicy-nugget fans will definitely want to get them while they’re hot, in multiple senses of the word, because again, the chain is making them available only for a limited time.

Another reason to snap them up soon after they return: McDonald’s is offering, as a bonus, a free 6-piece batch of Spicy Chicken McNuggets with any McDonald’s Door Dash delivery of $20 or more placed February 2 through 6. (Use code SPICY.)
